There are as many types of tournaments as there are geographical locations for specific tourneys. Almost every recreational activity boasts it's own stars, tournaments and experts. Across Canada many established sports like Golfing or tennis offer tournaments at every skill level. Newer sports like snowboarding are also following suit. If you are travelling in from outside the area remember that you need to check not only the tourney rules but also the fishing license required in that area. Novice anglers should not be intimidated.
